GH owls are fierce predators against many other raptors. Are osprey nocturnal? That would have been an interesting neighborhood to watch!

Interesting - since owls are nocturnal and raptors are not normally. Osprey are not nocturnal, needing good light to see fish below the surface. Unlike the Bald Eagle which gets the majority of their fish scavanging the dead and dying, Ospreys go for live fish.

I have a pair of owls in residence that have lived in harmony with the resident red-shoulder hawk and coopers and sharp-shinned hawks.

I Love Owls. We have a great horned owl that likes to hang out in the norfolk island pine next door. If it is a light night he is easily visible and lovely to hear.

    Ok, let me rephrase that...

I know GH owls eat many other types of owls. I don't know about hawks and falcons.

You must have a good neighborhood association, Diane.

Owls are very territorial against other owls, and the GH are at the top of the heap.

Cin - don't you just love that ' Who, Whoooo, Who, Who Who'... in the night?
