    Default A Terrible Beauty II

    More bugs by request

Sorry about the distortion -- this one was under one of those "bell jar" things -- the curvature on a closeup created distortion I couldn't overcome. But the metallic coloration at least showed up

    Underside

    Topside

Not a butterfly -- large grasshopper

Seems like a type of cicada but .....

    Definitely a cicada

For those looking for moths/butterflies ... the brown "leaves" would be them

Love the green on this one

I refer to this one as the "Viking Beetle" because of the horned 'helmut' it has -- though a buddy of mine pointed out to me that Vikings never had horned helmuts [it apparently was just bad Hollywood costuming].

Actually have just a few more pics but will stop here unless the huddled masses start screaming for more.

Nice collection there! And cool paterns on the beetles up on the first pic. And that last one is huge!
I have a small butterfly wall in my room (the side of the room that doesn't get much sunlight)... I wasn't sure if I was going to post it on this forum, but they are posted somewhere else cuz someone requested it...

    Default GROSS!

Those are too gross. How I with orchids came in those metallic colors..

The beetle that is the size of your hand scares me. (I think I'll have nightmares tonight. I just had a flasback of Brendan Fraiser in the Mummy when he was running from all of those scarab beetles.)

There are definite advantages to living in a place like england - there are no creepy crawlies anywhere near that size.

    I think....
