    Smile Springtime Photos

Just some pictures I've taken recently, thought I would share...

Pic 1: A gorgeous lilly (I think) in front of my Father's neighbor's house in Ft. Lauderdale

Pic 2: An amazing flowering bush in Ft. Lauderdale, I'm not certain what it is...

Pic 3: The beautiful flowering cherries in Central Park

Pic 4: The "ugly duck" with her very cute baby ducks in the park in Ft. Lauderdale...they were so tame! Obviously enjoyed having their picture taken :-)

Nice pictures. I think the lily is a form of amarylis.

Those ducklings are so cute! Where did the phrase "ugly duckling" come from? The kids are handsome...it's mom that's a dog!

Oh, the poor mother duck. I think she is beautiful - if a bit ruffled. With all those 'kids' I am sure I would not look much better.

Beautiful spring photos, Becky. I especially like the brandegeana!

    Cheers,

Is the mother duck a muscovy? I saw lots of those down there, and they're kind of beauty challenged (but interesting!).

I think it may be a muscovy- I seem to remember someone telling me mentioning that name. All I know is there are about 15 of these crazy ducks in a park down the street from my Dad's place, and they come RIGHT up to you and look at you as if to say, "Are you going to feed me?" They never leave the park...and from their tame nature, I'm certain that many, many people feed them!!

Pretty sure that the first picture is a Crinum Lily. They are an old southern plant and have flowers in shades of pink to red and can grow quite large. They do have leaves and flowers like the Amaryllis but are in the Liliaceae family.

All ducklings are so cute - when it's baby bird time I go and stare at the swans, geese, ducks, coots etc on the River Thames. It's fun just standing watching the babies. Even Tom likes doing it - it's very relaxing.
