I am not sure how much light you are getting in that North East facing window, but if you do not have blinds that are only partially opened, you are definitely getting too much sun. I have a cat in the same facing window, and I have to watch how much light is coming through in the morning. The plant is looking much better since you cut off the yellow leaves. The new growth is definitely promising.
