Default Labeling or tagging your orchids

I'm such a beginner that I didn't realize my 2 Phals didn't come with tags and I don't know anything about them. I'm wondering what you do about labeling them? How do you tag your orchids and what do you write on the lables?

If you do not know the actual name of the orchid, it is hard to label them correctly. Sometimes if you post a photo of the bloom and plant, you can get a pretty good idea from a member who might recognize it. But most of the time your orchid will remain a Noid.

The good news is that if you don't plan to breed or enter your orchid into shows for AOS judging, you can simply call your plant whatever you would like. If you have a noid phal that is bright yellow, you could call it 'yellow phal - noid' or a bit more creative 'sunshine phal - noid'. I recommend leaving the NOID on the tag so that later you will not be confused or in case you gift the plant to someone else, they too will know it is an unidentified plant.

Cheers,
BD

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .
