    For seedlings:
    1. Give them less light than the mature plants.
    2. Protect them from cold temperatures. Seedlings have less tolerance to frost compared to mature plants.
    3. Protect them from very warm temperatures. They dont have a lot of plant matter to store extra water so they could dry up fast.

I now have keiki in a 2" clay pot in bark mix...this is what the lady from the AOS told me to do. I had to stop by there on the way back from a doctor's appointment I also picked up my first Lady's slipper (but thats for another thread...I will get some pics up later)
Thank you John for your advice....how often should I water this little keiki now?? Does he need his own pebble tray? I have him near another phal for now.

I think it is probable best to cut the keiki, but if the roots are fine, try to save the plant also. It could be that the keiki is taking so much energy, the plant cannot feed itself. I found that when I stopped paying so much attention to my orchids, they started doing much better. I have a couple in the house, but 15 or 16 hanging under a large oak tree. The misting system in the oak goes off every other day, and I use a spray bottle on the ones in the house about every 3 days, and a good watering once a week. Your sister maybe paying too much attention instead of not enough. I have heard that is the problem with most orchid growers when they start. I know I did. These guys are pretty hardy, they better handle being somewhat ignored over too much attention.
