    Question Promenaea Chameleon Culture?

    Hi all!

I recently aquired a Promenaea Chameleon, and I'm a little scared that I might kill it, as I purchased one about a year ago and it died within a month, LOL. Does anyone grow any Promenaeas? I know they like cold and moist, as they come from higher-elevation cloud forests in Brazil....any advice from anyone? Its currently on my windowsill being shaded by two larger catts, in a 4" pot and I water it frequently.

    Thanks!
    ~Becky

Promenea Chameleon (Promenea Limelight x Promenea guttata) Does well in 40%-70% humidity, grow in shade, cool to intermediate temps, water heavily during growth, do not allow to dry out. If plant loses its leaves during the winter(deciduous), stop watering. Commonly grown in pots of fine fir bark, with perlite added. Fertilize heavily during active growth. Hope this helps.

awesome, its pretty much as I expected. I'm concerned about this guy in the summer, as it gets pretty warm in our apartment. I'll have to keep it heavily shaded or maybe move it farther away from the window. Thanks for your help!!

Cool I didn't know they loose their leaves in the winter. That explains the leaves are fallen off on my Prom.

    Cool Growing Promeanea

I live in Hawaii and purchased 3 compots of Promenaea 'Chameleon' It suppose to be cool growing, but I took on the challenge and grow it in a shaded area and keep it moist. I transplanted it in 2" pots and it is growing nicely since April of 2009. Fertilize with 13-2-13 every week.

I only grow one promenaea and it is grown under my phals. They shade it and it blooms each year. It is planted in a tiny pot with seedling bark and charcoal.

    Cheers,
    BD
