That would be fantastic if it blooms! I feel so bad for it being bashed about as it was it is only a little guy lol. should I put it in brighter light than my other phals till it grows a new leaf or keep it with the others?

Carrie, I'd strongly suggest putting it with your other phals if they are doing well. What works for them, should also work for your new plants.

    Cheers,
    Rob

Carrie, I know how it is to anticipate a shipment and then have it arrive damaged. I am really sorry, and I hope the next one will arrive looking happier. However, as stated by the others, it looks like you will end up with two, since it appears just the one leaf was damaged (still it's good they'll send you another one).
Maybe it is crown rot you're worried about? As long as no water has been sitting in the crown, that shouldn't be a problem.
Again, I'm sorry. Be sure to let us know how the next one arrives.

Thank you ang709 I will be sure to let you know what happens with the next one, I had read that if the crown of Phal was damaged it was near certain death for the plant thats why i got worried as the leaf was broken right at the crown but it seems I am very lucky and no serious damage has been done. I will post pictures when the next little guy arrives If he arrives safely!

Ouch! ok I will let this one slide Carrie ... Just this once!

Your phal will be fine, I had a clay pot fall on top of one of my phals and some of the leaves looked like slices of swiss cheese afterwards.
The plant was fine and grew new leaves.
Orchids are tough and are very resourceful when it comes to surviving.

Your little "guy" will make it.

Thank you Lambert, Thats great, I will hopefully find him blooming then in the not too distant future, ( wouldnt that be nice) for now I will treat him like my others and ignore him as much as I can! I call all my plants my little guys I dont know why, I am just ever so slightly unhinged I will look forward to this on growing and will hopefully have a nice looking plant again soon!

Default HELP!!! I just CUT OFF the only spikes on my Phal!

I've been impatient for new growth. Then this one phal (out of 6) showed a spike growing. It was an INCH long, and 2 new spikes appeared.

However, two old leaves had fallen off around the crown. And I believed the dry leaves were obstructing two of the spikes. So I started clipping away at the old growth. And when I looked again, I saw that I CUT OFF MY ONE GOOD SPIKE, and the other that was coming along.

Can I rush it to the ER? Should I put them on ice? Water & root medicine?

    Any recommendations?

    Help.

    R.
