    Question C.mossiae x L.Purpurata Budding Question

I have had this plant for just under one year. The full name is Lc. Canhamiana var. coerulea "Azure Skies" AM/AOS (C.mossiae X L.Purpurata) I have posted two photos. This plant has kicked up three new growths, one is clearly in spike (photo#1). (Photo#2) shows two older p-bulbs that look like there is new growth coming up at the base of the leaf ? Almost like a spike coming up,is this possible? I know the photo might be hard to see, what I'm talking about.Any insight would be great. Thanks,Rich

I don't think they are new growth on #2 picture. Growth usaually comes from base or around ring section (lack of better term) of p-bulbs.

    Congrats on your spike!

don't know what to call that structure but it is not out of the ordinary. It is where a spike would have risen from if the plant was ready. Usually it does not develop into anything.

Thanks Ron.I didn't think this plant would re-bud from a old p-bulb.I'm sure this plant already did flower from these older p-bulbs.It looks like it is trying to spike, though.I haven't seen this plant in bloom yet. From what the tag says,it should be Lt. blue w/dark blue lip. Take Care,Rich

Rich I have seen this clone in bloom...quite stunning there is a yellow eye in the darker trumpet-shaped lip. Don't expect blue, blue...it is a dusty lavender "horticultural blue" color
