Default Enough light at my growing area?

    Hi folks,

Can you guys tell me if I have sufficient light for my orchids at my growing area? Pict shows 1 phal violacea, 1 phal NOID, 2 paphs NOID (mottled leaf, maudiae kind I think ) and 1 paph Susan Booth. Have provided a shot of the 2 phals hoping that the colour of the leaves can help in the assesment. I have been trying out this lighting condition for my plants for the past 1 month or so. Am wondering if there is enough light or not cos there isn't much action and also a check with my camera indicated only about 800fc. This is a west facing window. Many thanks in advance.

Yes, generally a west window will have enuf light to support the types of plants you listed...phals,paphs,oncids, maybe even a mini dend. I would just not really suggest any high light plants in that location bc even tho thet may grow, thet most likely will not flower...this would include catts, vandas, stuff like that.

    Thanks Becky.

Just wondering, the leaf colour of the bigger phal is not exactly lime green. Is it getting sufficient light? It looks a little darker shade of green to me and the spike has stopped throwing up flowers. Should I be concerned? Should I expose it to more sunlight? The smaller phal is developing new leaves with less purple/reddish colouring on the underside. How do I judge if a plant is getting too much or too little light from the colour of the leaves? I know i am sounding a bit manic here but well.....apologies and thanks.
