Sorry for the loss, but maybe the remaining one will be strong enough and the plant strong enough to make it! Good luck!

    Cheers,

Lizgeo, did the seller happen to say what orchid that it was crossed with? Did he/she pollinate it or did nature? If you know the "father", then I would love to have some seeds otherwise I wouldn't really know how to grow it. Thanks and your orchid sounds beautiful! I hope it does well for you.
    All the best, Rogue

    Rogue,
The cymbidium came from a private garden. I think this is the only kind of cymbibium in the collection, and they were grown outside. So I assume the nature did it.

We had lots of light rain for several day. The only seedpod left on the plant was turning softly brown, and fell right off when I lifted it up for inspection. It now is sitting on my coffee table. I will try to make a picture of it tomorrow. The pod is still closed, does this mean the seeds are not mature enough?

If you want to give it try, you can PM me and I can send the pod to you. Another forum member was thinking about growing from the seed too, not sure if she is still interested...

I've read that some people prefer to use the seeds of pods that haven't opened on their own as it protects the seeds from contamination. I don't know how to look at a seedpod and know if it's mature, though.

Yes, we're still interested if there are still seeds available.

How is your mother plant doing? Does she seem very stressed? I hope not.

    Smile To Lizgeo

Lizgeo, thank you so much for the Cymbidium seed capsule offer but I just really wouldn't know how to grow it without knowing both parents. That is so kind of you though and I really appreciate your offer.
It is hard to say if that seed pod is mature enough or not, but here is some info that may help: If you open the pod and the seeds want to just fall out easily and blow away, then wonderful, go ahead and re pot the mother and lay dampened sphagnum (New Zealand only) moss on top of your media beneath her and then spread some seed on it. Who knows, you might get some babies. However, if the seeds clumps, then just toss it because it is probably not any good. BTW, what does 'PM' mean, I am still new to this site. Thanks a million Lizgeo and I do hope your orchid thrives well for you. Send some pictures if you can. Blessings, Rogue.

Oh, I am not patient enough to grow orchids even from seedlings, my hair would turn grey if I grow from seeds. However, I did tear 3 seedpods and left them in the same pot with mother Cym. It would be a miracle if any baby comes out. And I am sending the last pod to Angie.
