Vanda's love their sunlight...the window is a good idea, but I might go with a west exposure maybe as you are up north. You move them gradually into higher light so you don't burn them.

Hopefully someone from up north will chime in on this. I'm not sure, my guess would be East...but i'm not sure as i've not grown orchids in the north.

South window would probably get you a higher light output than an east window. I haven't had vandas in the previous years, but havefloweredcattsin my south windowin the midwest US.

vandas needs lots of light, they can even take full sun. Depending on the type of Vanda
you've got, my semi-terete types are all in full sun, while my strap leafs are under filtered
sun. Water them 2x a day, misting imho will not be enough. Water them until their roots
turns green. If you dont have the time to water them as often you can pot them up, but
make sure they'll get enough light.

Jazzman, I grow vandas in FL and they LOVE light. Where you are I would opt for the south window. If the leaves are pencil shaped and very thick you can hang it in the window right away. If the leaves are v shaped I would hang is a short distance from the window and move it closer as winter approaches and then let it stay there as spring arrives. Window glass cuts down a lot more light than you might think. I hang mine two feet from a south window in winter in my garage and they pout all winter. Mine get all but direct noon sun spring - fall. I water every day (or every other day if it's humid) and fert full strength (spray bottle) once every week or too. What is the name of your plant? Good luck!!!

    Tami
