Default What am I doing wrong with my phal orchid?

This is my first phal. Ever since I bought him the leaves are falling off one after another. Up until now 3 leaves has fallen off already. And these ones are all wrinkly, threatening to fall off too.
But as you can see there are also new leaves coming out......so I must be doing something good.

    Any advice?

    Dess.

    Hi Dess,

it's a little hard from me to tell (on my phone, not my pc) but looks like your phal might be a little bit over potted- meaning it might like a smaller pot.

What medium are you growing in, and how often are you watering?

Have you repotted it? If so- what did the roots look like?

from the look of the leaves I would say it is not getting enough water. this can be from either under watering or the Phal not having a viable root system to uptake water with. I would recommend that you remove the plant from the medium and check the roots?

See if the phal has any good roots by taking it out of its pot. Good roots on a Phal are hard and white.

If the roots are stringy and/or mushy the plant has been overwatered, or in the same pot too long, and needs repotting. If the roots are good, then the plant has been underwatered. 99 times out 100 the plant's been overwatered.

Repot it and water heavily. Wait until its dry and water heavily again. Keep water out of the crown of the plant. If any gets in the crown dry it out with a paper towel or something like that.

Post a pic when it blooms.

Yes, time to check on the roots and pot it in a smaller container.
