    Default phal flowers and buds shrivelling

    I might need some help earlier than i thought .
    A couple of weeks ago i bought a greenish tinted phal. After a week or so the flowers and buds started to shrivel. the leafs and roots looked OK.
    I repotted it in fresh bark, but still all but one bud did not drop.
    As i liked the color so last week i bought another one (different grower). Unfortunately also this second phal. is now showing exactly the same symptoms. This phal is treated exactly the same as my other phals. that seem to do ok.
    Anybody know if this is a phal. typ especially susceptible to changes in condition or disliking growing in an (extended) window still?
    Flower ( a bit pale due to flash:

    I think it is just from the change of the enviorment,becouse the plant looks good-the roots,the leaves..I wouldn`t cut the spike, unless all the blooms fall off. I think it will flower, just takes tame to adopt to the new conditions, so nothimng really serious! Good luck!

    hi Joyday;
    Not sure about the flowers. All the flowers have dropped, and almost all of the buds have turned yellow. But i'll see if i can keep the plant alive, and maybe the next time it flowers i have more luck.
    B.T.W by looking at one of your posts you have a very similar one which only has the first flowers left and the top of the spike empty. Did the buds fall of or are these flowers actually on sub spikes.

    I had buds fall after i opened a window for a while and cold air coming in. And after misting buds. That was a dendrobium but i think sudden changes in temperature over a certain range could cause that. Or central heat suddenly blasting.

    And some phals just have bad moods I think. I have had my last two phals drop their buds and lose flowers early. I think it's a bad month or something!

    It could be shock from being moved from one environment to the other, but it looks like the buds are getting too cold. Phals like a minimum of 60F.

    It could also be moisture build up inside the bud. Don't spray the buds, if you're doing that.

    Some buds are very susceptible to changing conditions. I've got phalaenopsis buds in the past shriveling just after staking the spike; I attributed it to a change in orientation and distance from the source of light the buds were adjusted to. I think your plant is Ok Erik, you should not worry about anything.

    Hi Erik!Yep,I have a similar one,greenish colour.Well, I bought the plant looking like that, it was finishing its flowering, and the flower fell off a few days later. It is puting a subspike now, so that`s why I recomended that you don`t cut the spike . Ortherwise, I really think your plant is just fine!Don`t worry, and wait for the flowers to come again!
