    Default Unintended division....

Well, I was moving the previously mentioned unpotted cattleya so my kitty wouldn't try to play with it and the thing broke in the middle....So, uh, now I have 2 catts... and wanted to know if you guys thought they would be ok if I just repotted them.....

There are plenty of leads on either end and it broke right in the middle, next to an old dried p-bulb.

Looks like you have 2 catts now. Both have plenty of p-bulb and leaf. They should be fine to pot up.

It's really up to you...but it's usually smarter to pot them up separately. That way if bugs or disease hits one, the other will be saved.

I would repot separately. One other benefit than what Connie mentioned, is that if there is something different you'd like to try -- either media-wise or culture-wise -- you can experiment w/ one plant while using your normal regime for the other. Good way to see if another media/culture might work better for you.

Yes, repot in individual pots. They both should be just fine under you care. Don't forget to make two tags.

    Cheers,

I have a Laelia anceps that broke in a similar way - 3 way.

One bigger division of 7 PB and 2 small ones of 3.
trying the smallest one in water culture.

You could as someone said 2 different media and see what works best.
also you could trade one for soemthing else eventually

    lol, no kidding!

Well, it seems the catts are vigorously growing what appears will be new p-bulbs. No new roots seem to be forthcoming, but it's early days yet Going to try to mix in a tiny bit of superthrive with their next watering. Then I am just gonna leave them alone and let them do their thing. Oh, ended up potting them both in clay orchid pots. I have some baskets that were ready and waiting, but I am inexperienced with growing in baskets, so I went with what I know.
