Do you have any sheer curtains? The glass amplifies sunlight, so a sheer is probably best for your phal.

Can you put up a sheer curtain between the direct sun and the phalaenopsis?

I would agree. Moreover it tends to get hot near glass. Especially with summer starting, I would recommend placing it couple of feet away from the window. Phals do not need lot of bright light like cattleyas. In fact one of my phals started yellowing one of its leaf because of the increase in light due to the summer sun taking over. I had to move it to a slightly lower light area.

I let my phals get some morning sun, which I find is OK for the winter. In the summer, I move them farther away from the windows. Actually, giving them direct sun isn't really the suggested way of growing, so it's best to play it safe.

depend on the time of day... if it is very early morning sun then i think its
going to be ok... also that glass could act as a magnifying glass.... so it could
magnify the intensity of the sun rays going into the phal.... as state by
cindi... put a curtain in the window so that the sun is filtered.
