Default Question About Shipping Catts in Bud

OK, this might be a stupid question but - what are the chances of the buds aborting once they have emerged from the sheath if the plants are shipped via overnight express?

Depending on the temperature and handling they could be damaged. If the vendor is reputable, they will pack carefully to minimize this issue, but there is always a chance. The main thing is to get a healthy plant.

I have bought many plants on line, some in bud, bloom, spike or sheath and have had a 99% success rate of them arriving in great condition and continuing the bloom cycle successfully. The main thing is as Bruce said buying from a reputable dealer who packs well. Another factor is weather. I never have orchids shipped to me in winter or the hottest part of summer. I have never paid extra to have them shipped over night. Mine come priority mail and as stated have been very pleased.

Thank you for your answers. I have gotten plants from this vendor before and they come packed so well that it takes about a half hour to unwrap them. They are completely immobile in the box. Even the medium in the pots is secured and cotton is packed around the leaves and pbulbs. So, I'm going to order the 3 plants that are in bud and hope for the best. I'm feeling the need for some instant gratification.

I ordered a plant over three weeks ago and still haven't seen it! I am supposed to get in touch if it isn't here tomorrow but I am worried about condition. It is the first I ever ordered. What to do?

Just check the plant out completely when it arrives. If there is a problem, e-mail a photograph of the plant immediately to the vendor and call to make sure the situation can be resolved to your liking.

On future orders, make sure to get a tracking number so you can see where your plant is on its journey to your home.

I hope everything is alright with your order.

    Cheers,
    BD
