    Default disenfect basket??

    Hi,
I had a small Vanda that finally died because I lost a battle with scale. My question is...should I somehow 'disenfect' the Vanda basket before I use it again...or is it necessary? I've read posts about disenfecting pots, but nothing about baskets.
    I would appreciate your advice,
    Vicki

I would discard the basket and not use it again. For me it's not worth the risk.

If the condition of the wood is still good and you really want to reuse it, bake it first in the oven at 300F for an hour. However, it may not be economical because of the cost of utility.

Seems like a bleach solution should be enough. Perhaps make a solution of bleach and soak the basket in it for a couple of days. After two days, sit the basket outside in direct sun and let it bake. That should kill anything in and on the wood. JMHO. But if you are worried, just toss it like Susan suggests or bake it like Tom suggests.

    Cheers,
    BD
