Default Brassolaeliocattleya 'Rustic Spots': Problem: Help Requested

    Hi,

I am seeing black ends on the leafs of my Brassolaeliocattleya 'Rustic Spots' but I am not sure if they were there before. Also, I want to inquire about the structure of the leafs, if their structure indicates maybe too much or too less water or light or whatever.

What's your fertilizing regime? the burn on the leaf tip might be fertilizer burn.

I bought them this way from an orchid grower, but hoped they would go away (the white areas on the leafs).

Or did you mean the black tips of the leafs? Got that that way, too.

I self, well, I water this plant each seven (7) days, the first week with regular water, the second week with a dissolved 20-20-20 fertilizer in the water. The pot has a diameter and height of 4 inch.

Do the leafs look dry or over-watered or like too much or too less light?

I hope that information helps you to find an answer. Would be great if you could help me with my other threads, too. :-)

THe brown tip is fertilizer burn. Flush your orchid pot with lots of fresh water. The white residue is from the water evaporating on the leaves. It will not hurt the plant. The leaves look a little wrinkled which makes me wonder if the roots are alright. Give them a look and see if they are good. If they are, then you should increase water a bit or pot them in something that will retain a bit of moisture for a little longer. Cattleyas like to dry out between watering, but they do need water.

On fertilizer - dilute to 1/4 or less the recommended mixture. Feed only once a week after you water. For example if you water on Sunday and Wednesday, feed on Wednesday after you have watered. Then on Sunday only water with clear, fresh water. etc...

    Good luck.

    Cheers,
    BD
