    Default What's going on here?

Hi Everyone. I have had this orchid for quite a while and I cannot remember what is it called. I'm sure you'll all let me know. It's flowered once a long time ago and the leaves are turning yellow as you can see and I was going to throw it out. Then I noticed something happening at the base. Does anyone know what is going on with this plant? The expectation for me seem quite exciting. Thanks, Rex. Here's the pictures:

    Unhappy Update.

Update.....The leaves are now going even more yellow and it looks like I'll have to chop the main stem and allow the new shoot to use all the energy it's producing.
    Any advice chaps? Rex.

Don't cut the old growth off. That is where the new growth is getting all of it's energy.

It's a dendrobium. The green thing at the base is new growth. As long as the old stem stays firm and not mushy, leave it alone. As for the leaves turning yellow, they are probably old and that's just what they do.

    Smile Thanks!

Thanks for all that info guys. I was surprised that it's a Dendrobium as I have another of those that is completely different and flowers from the stem all the way up. I'll let it take its own course and maybe next year a bloom hopefully. I feel a bit excited about what's to come. Best wishes, Rex.
