    Default Insecticides

I know that people are reluctant to recommend and use insecticides but I have two problems in my greenhouse. One seems to roaches eating the tender roots and another is small ants in orchid pots. Does the group have any suggestions for solutions. If it helps I am in the Space Coast area of East Central Florida.
    TIA

Well I hate to admit this but the mealy bugs have gotten so bad in my basement that I have begun the use of a systemic insecticide that was once called Isotox. I have had no luck with any natural method due to the fact the bugs are living in the bark and simply spraying the leaves with a soap is not affecting those in the bark.
Whatever you do - pay attention to the warnings and over-compensate - do not take any chances of causing physical problems to yourself down the line.

I use orthene in times of crisis. I don't know if it would work on ants and roaches...
