Hello all, I am sure this has been covered before so I am sorry for the duplicate, I am not very familiar yet with navigating my way about on here. I have never had a problem with rot of pest or fungus in the nearly 20 years I have been growing Orchids, however i seem to have a small pest, appears to be a fruit fly type of critter (too small to catch with my camera). I see no damage to my plants but they are in a few of them. Plants are growing well, new spikes and leaves on several, which for this time of year in minnesota is great However i am not interested in this becoming an issue and looking for a recommendation for a pesticide I can find readily, that you have had good luck with. It is a Sunday so I will likely need to run to a box store to find one. Thank you for your advice.

Yes, the pest you are speaking of are fugus gnats. They are most likely coming from your paph. which tend to stay more damp then the rest of your collection. Take a look in the Orchid Ailments / The Compost Pile , thread you should be able to find some good information. I have included a couple of links to take a look at. Take Care,Rich

Thank you sir, was what i was thinking, but had never had them...i had always thought they tended to come along with media breakdown and this is in a newer media that is still very solid looking, but at least i now know how to address...thank you again for your help and the links!
