Default A hankering to try phrags ...

For some reason, I have a hankering to try phrags. I'm willingto keep their feet wet, and to not throw them out onto my patio with the catts & dens during the Texas summers, but let them lounge about in the AC. How hard are they to grow? Any suggestions for a nice, forgiving one (or types to stay away from?).

They are among the easiest Orchids to grow in my opinion. For a first one I'd try Phrag. Cape Sunset. It's not very expensive, and should be excellent.

Absolutely! Get online and do some research on cultivating these beauty's. I think you'll be amazed at how forgiving they can be given the right conditions.

All true, and some of the prettiest orchids are phrags. Tiny delicate ones to big, grand showy ones. I have so many favorites, but remember phrags can get pretty big.

    Cheers,

OK, thanks for the suggestion; I will look into Cape Sunset.
One Q--how big do they get? Mt orchid area is starting to look a bit full.

I would say it's a medium grower. Not really small but not huge either. Dunno if that helps or not

That's OK, I just don't want to end up with something huge. Thanks!
