Since I'm 4000 (?)miles from home and far from my orchids, filling in time in the holiday hotel ( in West Africa) I thought I'd contribute to this thread for you - there are 10 species involved in your hybrid ;the three main ones are Sophronitis coccinea ( as it used to be called - now its a Cattleya) about 31% ; and 25% each of C.milleri - which always used to be a Laelia, and also of Brassavola nodosa - I think the name has not been changed here - that's a novelty ! The other two significant contributions are 7% from (now) C. cinnabarina- you will find that listed in anything but the latest book as a Laelia ; and 6% from C.crispata - here's a rare one, I can't even bring it to mind as a name, never mind a flower. So that leaves about 7% to be divided bewteen C.gaskelliana, schroderae, dowiana, warscewiczii and mossiae.
This analysis comes from Orchidwiz. I wonder if it is that meaningful ? It seems to me, looking at the pics of your hybrid in that software (Orchidwiz) that there is nothing of the big classic cattleya flowers - mossiae, dowiana, warscewiczii and gaskelliana to be seen at all ; are gtheir genes present but recessive ? Could any progeny from your plant suddenly revert to showing big classic cattleya features ? What do others think - I'd love to get a general consensus !
