@ Gavin: Orchids are among the most adaptable of plants - that's one of its most lovable feature. One should not be inflexible, Take the advice from others and experiment. What works for you is right for you. Having said that, there are some general rules that do apply - there is the right way and the wrong way but never the only way.

Trevor, what types of Vanda did you have? strap leaf? semi-terete/terete? species or hybrids? i asked because if its a strap leafed then I think the light its receiving is enough. But if its
a semi-terete/terete leafed then it may not be enough.... as this requires lots of sun and warmth... I have mine exposed to full sun the whole day. Also, where in the Philippines are you
from? hows the temps in there? because if its a species it may be one of those cool growing ones or maybe a hybrid involving them. As for fertilizers, I almost never fertilize my orchids
and still they bloom for me.

    Hi Mr. Randy!
I get to see the pics of your orchids on the your threads, and honestly, I pretty envy you! OMG, I love to have a personal tour at your garden and a look of all your orchid collections, if you would invite me, of course!
Anyway, I'm pretty sure that the kind of Vandas I have are semi-terete (after google-ing "kinds of Vanda").

I see that you are from Pampanga. Where are you in Pampanga? I am also a "cabalen".
    Thanks!
