We used to have a big plastic container thing that came with a hose attachment, and dad always used it with lime for the lawn. The water would rush into it (the container was clipped onto the attachment, like a hose to the tap) and then out it would come in a weak strength. I suppose you could use it for orchids as well.

This is what I meant. The hose end attaches on one end and a syphon tube inside the bottle pumps up the fertilizer. I just wonder how would you measure the fertilizer ratio to the water pumping out.

hmm...not sure, but is exactly the same, almost to our old one..... Is that a dial on the top? maybe you can control the ratio with it?

I have used it on my orchids from time to time. Here in the "states" they sell the container and the fertilizer already measured to fit the container. I believe the fertilizer contains urea, not very good for the roots I'm told, so I only use it when I'm really lazy and don't want to take the time to hand water with a urea free fertilizer. I have a new greenhouse, no misting system, that only holds about 200 plants, so it's not really a big deal. But for someone with mega plants I can see where fertilizing by hand would be pretty tedious.

I use the Miracle grow version of this on plants that I grow outside during the summer. The pre-mixed fert is too strong. Dilute to 1/4 the recommended mix and be sure to water with pure water to flush the pots the next go round.

    Cheers,
    BD
