    Default Dendrobium noid identification

I have had this Dendrobium now since 2008 and have never been able to get it to bloom, I get plenty of new growth and roots but no flowers so far. Does anyone have any idea what species this might be, I would like to figure out what I need to do to get this one to bloom for me.
    Thanks!!

I'm not 100% sure but let check: Schomburgkia

Canh, I thank you for your suggestion. In doing some research on the Schomburgkia I see that the leaves on my picture are normally seen on the Schomburgkia, another way to tell on this species is that they will have hollow pseudobulbs, mine do not but I am not sure if that happens after they bloom or not. As mine has never bloomed for me I can not tell but will do more research to try to find out.

    Thanks
    Jack

    Hi Jack,

Looks like you should increase the light for this orchid. 9 times out of 10 insufficient light is the reason an orchid is not blooming. Good luck.

    Cheers,
    BD

    Bruce,
I have this one in my greenhouse that has a 55% screen. If this is indeed Schomburgkia they like extreme light so I will be moving this one to another location that gets direct morning and afternoon sun if it turns out to actually be Schomburgkia, still need to do a litle more research.
    Thanks
    Jack

I too believe it is a schomb. As you move it into direct light, do so slowly over time to avoid burns. Also, make sure that you do not have water on the leaves when in that much light or it can increase the likely hood of burns.

    Cheers,
    BD

Canh, it turns out you were right on the species of this orchid. I have also found today that there has been a name change on this species to Myrmecophila. I am moving this out to more direct sun later today and hope that I can get this to bloom for me in the next year after finding more out about this orchid!

Thanks to both you and Bruce for your help in this identification.
    Jack
