Default Orchid: Many Small Orange Fragrant Blossoms

    Hi,

It was the very first time, an orchid had no label, maybe it went missing before I bought it. Please assist me to ID this orchid.

It has aerial roots, and the many small, orange blossoms are nicely fragrant.

I hope the two photos can help you to ID this plant. Thanks a lot.

It looks like it might be an Ascofinetia Twinkle or maybe some orange Neofinetia or Neostylis. How big is it?

Looks very much like Ascocentrum miniatum to me. A better picture of the individual flower upfront will be helpful in Idying though.

I heard already about the Ascocentrum miniatum. But also, in another forum they say, that the blossoms of the Ascocentrum miniatum wouldn't be fragrant and that they would look still a bit different. A blossom is maybe just 1 cm accross. I will try to make a photo of a single blossom in a few minutes...

Indeed it looks like one of the two species, Ascocentrum miniatum or garayi. Ascf. Twinkle has a long spur arising from the base of the lip like Neofinetia falcata. Garayi leaves are toothed at the apex (serrated). I quote from Jay Phal "This species (miniatum) and Asco. garayi are very similar and more often than not A garayii is sold as A miniatum. The two differ in A garayii having flowers with deep solid orange color and very elliptical petals and sepals as well as a straight lip, A miniatum on the other hand has clearer, more transparent orange flowers with more noticeable veining and the sepals and petals are much narrower and the lip is recurved. From the small flower size and the flattened spur visible in the macro photos - Ascocentrum auranticaum rather than miniatum. The fragrance is still an issue though.
