The scent of moth orchids

    Default The scent of moth orchids

    Hay just want to find out how long does the scent last in moth orchids? Mine seem to give have scent when it blooms however after a day or two , when the flower is fully open there is no scent... Or do they have certain times when they give off their scent??

    @jai star...first and foremost congrats for your blooming moth orchids. Yes, sometimes orchid scents depends on the time of day when it is faint, none or overwhemingly intoxicating. And sometimes just like what you said when all the buds are open their fragrance ends.

    Oh I though that may be the case just wished that the scent would last longer like say a jasmine flower. But they are pretty enough to justify the lack of scent I guess in the wild they don't need scent to lure it's 'victims' lol

    Just be thankful it isnt a Zygo-those things are powerful! DO NOT leave a fully open zygopetallum in a bright position!
    But congratulations!
