Talking onci and phal-dendrob spiking. when are the phals?

My onci is in full bud and about to push open its first bloom. It started spiking about a month ago. To my surprise my phal dendrobium started spiking last week and has started its first buds. My question is when should i expect to see the phals go. All of them are healthy and I know they are getting ample sunlight because they are right next to the dendro and onci which are in bud. They are outside until 40s temp and under Oak trees receiving filtered light throughout the day. I bought the dendrob from a nursery for $10 because it had finished blooming so I am in for a surprise

    Hi Drew--

Phals can bloom anytime of year, and some bloom more than once a year. But, the biggest season for them is spring.
So, it is hard to predict when yours will bloom.

As Kathi says phals can bloom any time of the year. Here we find that phals taken up to the highlands for a spell exposed to temps in the 50s F usually stimulate them to spike and bloom. So the lower temp in winter should do the same.

i have a question regarding the dendrobium phal noid i have. Do they require a winter rest besides slowing the watering rate? Also this one's bloom shoot is from the same can which grew from nothing to 2 feet tall in one summer. IS that typical?
