Thanks Bob for your thumbs' up. They seem very easy to grow. This one is a result of splitting my brother's "Madi" from October last year. He is a complete novice and had it growing in his trees. Well this has doubled in size in under 12 months and has 7 sheaths of lots of flowers. My question is ... how long do the flowers last, as a couple have died in 2 wks. Are they really this easy to look after?

The ones that died were probably pollinated, or had their pollinia removed by some passing insect looking for a yummy! Typically, most Cymbidium flowers will last about 4-6 weeks, thats why they make great cut flowers!

Ta Jordan, more and more flowers are dying, but I don't see any bees or anything else. I hoped it would last until our orchid meeting next Thursday. Fingers crossed. As I would like to show it. By the way, I like your epitath borrowed from John Lennon.

Size: 41.6 KBGuess what? My Cymb.madidum received 1st prize in the Novice group at my Orchid meeting last Thursday. Approx. 60 people attend this Orchid club, so I was quite tickled pink to get 1st (in Novice section). Especially when one senior grower (experienced) came after the meeting and asked me my growing technique, as his hasn't ever flowered.

Well done Annette! Good for you! Isnt it really satisfying when an EXPERT grower, no less, asks you for your technique?
