Default Rescued a Blc. Memoria Anna Balmores 'Convex' - Now what?

    Hello,

I rescued this Blc. from one of the big box stores. (the price was right) . I have been raising Phal's for about three years but have never tried a sympodial. As you can see the pseudobulbs are shriveled and the leaves look accordioned. I re-potted this poor guy and discovered the main problem was root rot. I've cleaned it up the best I can but what next? You can see new growth and hopefully a viable root or two.

    Thanks

Great save, I have one of these, you will love the bloom. It looks like it is on the way to recovery. Keep up the good work.

How do I get the pseudobulbs to re-hydrate?

Peel away or cut those black sheats, you probably have a few critters under. I see a few white spots that look like scale. Rub them out with a q-tip soaked in alcohol. Go slow with the water, wait until it dries out to water again.

Bob, all the best, with the pseudobulbs. I'm sure your orchid will be fine.

And, don't worry of the old pbulbs don't plump up...as long as the new growth does well.

That new growth says the plant is in active growth so repotting now is good. Hopefully that new growth will sprout some healthy roots real soon.
