Default Calanthe Vestita - does this species have rhizomes

    Hello Orchid Experts!

I recently purchased a Calanthe Vestita. Given the presence of pseudobulbs I assume there must rhizomes present and, therefore, as with other orchids that have rhizomes, they then grow in the direction of its path. My question is, does this species have rhizomes? This is my first acquaintance with the plant.

    Thanks,

    Don "Velamen"

Yes it does, like other sympodial orchids. The rhizome would be where the pseudobulbs attach to each other and not visible above the potting media in the case of calanthe and most other terrestrials.
