Red face New leaf on Valentine's Phal... Confirmed!

My little Valentine's Phal is making progress... I was finally able to get it out of the moss it came in, and into some potting media I hope it likes... I used 'Better Gro" Special Orchid mix, which is bark, charcoal, and sponge rock in an open and ventilated, well-draining pot... I cleaned all the moss off the roots, and discovered many were broken through in multiple places and brown/drying... I cleaned up the roots, and allowed the remaining 3 healthy roots to soak a few minutes in a SuperThrive mix... I have 'MiricleGrow' Orchid Food I plan on adding to the watering next week...

The Phal now has a new leaf coming in, and I am wondering about the old leaf... It has begun browning and shriveling near the crown, and the edges are a touch crisp... Is this normal??? I am excited about the new leaf, and hoping I have provided the proper care to increase my chances of saving it...
