I have not fertilized my Miltonia yet they say between waterings with a 20-10-20. i can elaborate more thoroughly if your newer at this. So i want to SAY we can rule that out. I also like to say each orchid is different. People say "NEVER FERTILIZE A PHAL ORCHID IN BLOOM!" WELL......SOME OF MINE HAVE LOVED IT. I have also heard from my orchid society that Miltonias much more prefer colder temps and enjoy more shade then sun. The leaves naturally are thin but are they floppy? what color are they? Im probably going to get in trouble for this....its almost resembling the care of a Zygopetalum.... My Zygo is flourishing in a humidity tub/tray tons of spraying and as cold as i can get it but above 70 always...im doing these things with my Miltonia and im succeeding...oh and theres a SUPPOSED DIFFERENCE. Theres Miltonias and Miltoniopsis....maybe Ive only read that. Back on point, this is what Im doing so far and it seems to be getting better. I have a mini fan that does not punch out too much high pressure air. Its dropping the temp about 5 degrees in its area, Im keeping it as cold as possible, but i live in a desert so where are you living what is the climate? i also have it in a humisity tray as well so again Zygo behavior. let me know if you need anything else.and help me if you have answers and others please correct me if Im wrong!

I agree with Bruce. BTW Once Miltonia and Miltoniopsis were classified as Miltonia and we used to call them Brazilian Miltonias if they were heat tolerant and Colombian Miltonias (now Miltoniopsis) if they were the cool growing types. From your picture it looks like yours is a Miltoniopsis. They are often characterised by their fuller lip and that gorgeous 'waterfall' pattern on the lip.

Ugh! I've gotta start listening to my intuition on my picks, I was caught up in the color variations of the wild wild west. and it was the only one at the time...My florist however gets different Miltonias aaallllll the time and I should've picked one in bud this one was bought like this, and was the only one blooming. What recommendations would you all suggest for a hot dry climate but a home set to about 80 degrees and below?
