Default How to bloom a vanilla planiflora?

I have a very healthy vanilla planiflora in full sun, watered frequently and fertilized. How do I get it to bloom? It is about three years old and has grown rapidly.

Hi Vicki! There are a few vanilla growers here so hopefully they will chime in. How tall or long is your plant? I've read that they need to be pretty large to bloom. Do you have a photo of it?

Ours had to get pretty large to bloom and the blooms come and go very quickly so you have to pay close attention. Welcome to OrchidTalk.

    cheers,

It is over 18' and I have let it get to about 6' then started it back down the support three times. I was told to keep winding it back down in our orchid society meeting when someone brought one to demonstrate. I'm not good at posting pictures and will try to get my spouse to help me learn asap.

thks for the repoy. I heard they had to be old and large. Mine is probably 18' at least and I keep winding it back down like I heard at an orchid society meeting. I will post a picture of it when I learn how to do it.
