I received a beautiful plant as a Christmas gift. It's in a 4in. pot and a year from blooming. It has a tremendous amount of air roots and is an enormous plant. I've set the pot inside a plastic vanda basket and keep it hanging. I'm wondering if I should repot it or leave it alone. It's very healthy and from my favorite Hawaii grower. I'm still new to this and don't want to mess it up.

I would let it be. Allow it to grow and acclimate to your environment. Congratulations, you have a very generous Santa!

Is it potted in the medium your other orchids are growing in? If so, no problem. If not, I would repot in the medium you like to grow your plants in so that you can continue to water and care for your orchids the same way.

    Congratulations!

    cheers,
    BD

Thanks to you both. I will leave it alone. It's in bark like my others.

Congrats. Blc Chunyeah #17 is one of the better clones of Chunyeah. All Chunyeah's ( all 19 selected clones at the last count) are vigorous growers and very free flowering - except the Tsen-wen variety, which is a very delicate plant and arguably the prettiest.
