    Cool well i've done it. i rescued out of the kindness of my heart and now i have mealy...

    help me...I rescued a poor little epi needing a home and have brought in mealy bugs galore to my home! I feel doomed! does anyone know of an easy, homemade, natural will not hurt my orchids! type cure. thanks, rexlacey

    I spray rubbing alcohol (70% with a drop of liquid dish soap) on them. If it is a huge infestation. alcohol may not be enough.

    You can also use a cottonswab drenched in the alcohol to rub any areas where the mealy bugs can be seen.
    A second line of defense you might also try is Insecticidal Soap - its not homemade, but it does seem to work well for many different kinds of pests.

    Hi Relaxcey,

    Agree with suggestions made thus far. Mealy bugs have a 10 day life cycle. you should isolate & continue to treat for a 2 week period.

    Your not by any means doomed Relaxcey. What has been suggested by the above people will probably work. Treat at least once a week for two weeks, then keep an eye out for the little buggers. It only takes one to start a new colony if conditions are good. AL
