I've been using cinnamon for the last 3 yrs. So far so good other than a contamination from an outsourced newbie orchid.

Tried listerine, cause didnt have 70percent alcohol n other antifungal. It says listerine has alcohol and anti fungal properties in it,..
later i tried only 70percent alcohol, on other orchid, i think its cleaner but made the leaves a bit dry.
Btw,.. from this forum bout listerine.

I trimmed the leaves yesterday and put cinnamon on the cuts. Then put sphag on the roots.
One girl from another orchid forum gave me some advice to pour about 100 ml. water in the cachepot and let it be there, the roots will absorb as much water as they want and the humidity will be high. Her flowers look marvelous and the roots are healthy, green and vigorous. Does anybody used this method of watering?

(Sorry for my English. It's not my native language , I'm just learning :-)

Looks to me like 2 infections. the white pitting looks like caused due to mite and black markings looks like a fungal infection. I would suggest you isolate this from rest of the collection and treat it.

Orchids: How to Identify and Control Common Pests - For Dummies is an article with drawings of most insect pests that bother orchids. I think that aphids are probably the most common and, fortunately, the easiest to take care of. Leave another post if this doesn't take care of things.
