Thats a good pot to help you not overwater again. You can see the roots very well. Just keep in mind that green roots means no water is needed. If they turn silver/white then water. This picture indicates a plant that is not in need of more water.
That bark does look pretty dark and broken down. If that spike has flowers, wait for it to finish and then repot.
