I saw light meters for sale for around $40, I was surprised because I always imagined they would cost a lot more. Does anyone use light meters or would suggest using them? If they work really well it certainly would help me figure out which orchids I can grow in my set up. I don't really know the amount of light I'm getting in my east window, and what orchids would likely bloom with the amount of light received, all other variables equal.
If it reads in fc (foot candles) then it might be a good thing to have. If it reads some other scale, then converting can be a pain. A lot of orchid light info is in fc.
