Hi Sandy, interesting to see this, I have a phal that has a flower spike with a few flowers now but also another coming off of the old one, then yesterday someone was visiting and showed me a young plant...about two or three leaves there and when I examined closely I could see roots showing themselves out of that keiki, like you I would very much like to detach it but am sceptical, after reading these replies I will just wait and see what the outcome is..forgot to mention that I had a slight accident with it an it fell and one of the keiki leaves had gotten broken at the top, I trimmed it but never even noticed that it was a keiki guess I was too shocked, I hope that yours does well and that you can eventually detach it.

This is my grocery store phal equestris. I think it is a equestris dominate hybrid. It came with the mother plant and one keiki. Since I have had it, it has added like 8 more keikis and tons of roots. Now just waiting for a spike. I learned too late to never cut a spike off a phal equestris, they can bloom for a year or more on it. I have no plans to try and separate them. I understand that phal equestris likes this community living.

I don't seem to be able to get the video portion to load as I would expect and therefore I am not getting the frame inserted into the comment. I hope the link to YouTube works. Let me know.

I found a basil keiki on one of my Phals recently, not sure what I'll do about it, for now just trying to keep the plant happy and growing! I could hear your video, Harvey, but not see the picture.
