Post phal with seed pod and single flower

    good day every one

After Cross pollination seed pod is developing on phal ,

    Strange thing noticed on this

Before the flower and after the seed pod, plant dropped all the flowers except one near to the seed pod. This flower on stem coming to 4 months. Still the flower is fresh.

Why she is not dropping that particular flower ? Share your knowledge pl

Could just be a coincidence. A mature, strong, healthy plant might not drop any other flowers upon pollination.

By the way, technically speaking, orchids have "capsules", not "pods".

I think I had encounter similar problem before. It may need 6 months or even longer for it to mature.

    Breeding can be frustrating.

A long time ago, I crossed to complex paphs. It took 18 months for the capsule to ripen, then another 18 months for the seed to germinate, and in the lab manager's opinion, they were so grotesquely deformed, we trashed them.
