    welcome to the forum .
I will have some of the answers to the questions that you ask :
So lets start with Dendrobium. Dawn Maree. Its a hybrid and the closest species to what you have is Dendrobium formosum and here is a link that will help as Dendrobium formosum is the perant that carried the pod.

    http://www.orchidspecies.com/dendrob...argigantea.htm

Dendrobium speciosum loves the heatand very bright light, almost full sun,It has a common name of 'rock lilly'.All the speciosum's want to dry out between waterings and a tatal waterless rest from mid fall to late spring.
    http://www.orchidspecies.com/denspeciosum.htm

Dendrobium amethystoglossa would like to be kept moist from when new root growth is under way right through to mid to late autum and then just enough water to keep the canes from severerly shriverling.
    Heres a link to it
    http://www.orchidspecies.com/denamethystoglossum.htm

Dendrobium. amabile has had a name change and was known as Dendrobium thyrsiflorum .a link to look at is http://www.orchidspecies.com/denthrysiflorum.htm
Water sparingly throught he winter months and reduce the fertilizer until the initiation of new growth in the spring.

O - man, your knowledge continues to amaze me...! Between your advice and Doc Spock's continued encouragement to buy dends, I may actually end up with a nice selection! - - and keep them alive!!

I'm with you Diane. These guys are definitely Dend pushers! I've been sneaking a few more Dends into my collection, as well. I now have 3 species, 2 primary hybrids and a box store NOID that I've always hated. It has the crappiest little flowers. It feels the same about me. It hasn't bloomed since it was first given to me. But I keep it because it puts out keikis and they're fun to play with!

How many are you up to?

    Julie

Orchidbids, anyone? Don't forget, there are a lot of us newbies that would jump at anything given the chance! One man's ugly is another man's beauty.

Just realized I've posted 298 times. I mentioned this to my husband and he said, "Yeah, runnin' that mouth again." Men. hmph.
