    Default What is a burr.

I bought a burr. Nelly Isler 'Swiss Miss' about four months ago and it has been a very sweet plant. It had one spike with six or seven buds and the picture the vendor showed me looked good , and she told me the blooms would be fragrent. All turned out to be more than true. It has put out spike after gently scented spike. My wife has highjacked it to her office and it continues to bloom, ever since April. I wanted to do some research on it but I can't find out what a burr. is.

Burr is short for Burrageara, in the Oncidium alliance. It's a Cda x Milt x Odm x Onc. Those are: Cochlioda, Miloniopsis, Odontoglossum and Oncidium.

Nelly Isler, or more correctly, Memoria Nelly Isler, or Mem. Nelly Isler is a lovely red! How nice that yours is fragrant to boot!

Thank you, Julie. Now that I have scanned the web about Burrageara I see what a perfect plant it is for a novice like me. I got lucky again.
