About 2-4 hours, but that's just time spent watering, fertilizing, and talking to them. (LOL!) Shopping, browsing, reading up on, and mooning after them would add a whole lot more hours.

I stare at my 35 orchid everyday about 10 minutes and an hour during weekends. Never get bored.

haha glad to see im in the minority with my less than 1 hour a week answer! I do only have 11 plants though! =) PS bought a new orchid diary today, will start recording when I water/feed/pollinate and take photos of new flower spikes/roots/leaves so I have a lovely record of my year to look back on =)

Default Time spent careing for orchids?

I doesn't take long to care for them weekly but I do spend time with this forum and then the looking up of plants that I see here to find where to buy them.

My Sunday mornings begin with volunteer work at local conservatory, caring for about 400 orchids. Then I go home and tend to mine. Sunday is pretty much orchid day. In the summer with many of the plants outside - it is a daily watering. All the little mounted plants in the basement get a daily watering also. But, like Bruce says - the time flies when I am working with them.

yall are making me feel real lucky...i just nail mine to a piece of tree fern board, hang it on any thing that has space (sun permitting) and let it be... summers here can be brutal and even with the rain i have to spend an hour a night watering..but ive put in a half decent irrigation system...gets the orchids... the other plants just have to wait til i've got a drink in my hand before they get taken care of!

My orchids need to be monitor now and then to check if they are infested by black orchid weevil, mealy bugs, snails or slugs.

I would like to spend more time with mine if I had a huge collection, but since there are not more than 14 and it depends what time of the year it is.

Like Cathy, I spend more time with mine than I want to even consider, but enjoy every minute of it. When all/most of my 100 or so orchids are in our lanai during colder weather, it can take me the better part of 2 - 2 1/2 hrs. just to water all the hanging basket vandas, catts, and misc others, but that's with tea breaks to enjoy looking at them and possibly a bit of pruning/primping. As for time spent with them, lets just say I've never had a flower spike advance too far without my notice yet!
    Best,
    Tony
