Where can I get one of those LJA to help me out with my orchids!
It takes me at least 10 hrs a week to water and fertilize all my orchids and If I have to treat them for any reason, like spider mites, it takes me longer than that. I only have 3 days free of orchid care a week.
The hubby is definitely NOT interested on any kind of plants! LOL

I spend more than 6hrs a week during the summer , probably less in the winter when plants are in grow room.Grow room is very predictable temp wise so don't have to fiddle with shading etc .

Careful what you wish for Molly... rain is happening and apparently in some places for the first in a long time sleet and snow in some. Welcome to the crazy [B]world[B] of FLorida.
Any how I spend more time looking at my orchids and keepin the cats away then actually caring for them. Florida has a natural environment for them. Although the recent cold has shocked a few spikes and blasted a few blooms, I still look forward to a happy and healthy regrowth. Works for me since regrowing is my fave.

I like to spend at least an hour per day examining my orchids. It is usually more than that. I try to check each plant to make sure that each individual is healthy..

I'm with many of you as far as responses. I only have 8 right now, but I do tend to spend 6-8 hours per week tending to them. I never thought I'd be spending so much time on plants, more of an animal person, but orchids tend to have an affect on you - subtle at first, beginning with intrigue and fascination, then the grab ahold and won't let go! I like how some individuals call them 'chids - ain't that the truth. I spend time watering, fertilizing, inspecting for insects or disease, learning anything I can about them, waiting and hoping for any sign of growth (esp. spikes), looking at them for any sign of growth (esp. spikes), talking to them to encourage any sign of growth (esp. spikes) . . . etc. . . .

Yep, I have a chair set up by my grow area just for sitting and observing (obsessing) my orchids.

And that isn't even the ones in the living room which surround me. Those are mostly the ones in bloom. But I have to cut back on buying. I have 80 now! 80!!! And still have 10 on order (from December and January orders that were backordered till 2/18, now just looking for a warm window for delivery)

It's a good thing I am setting up another grow area in the garage. It will be my cool-loving orchid growing area. It has an 8 tube, 4' light set up and a little table. No orchids there yet. Some of the backordered orchids may end up living in the garage. A Dracula and a Masdie are those cool loving guys.

I only have 2 mini Phals. atm, so probably 10 minutes twice daily for their attention. But they sit in my "plant room" full of an eclectic variety of things that keep me happily busy for at least an hour to two a day. Reminds me that I have to move my seedling sweet peas into their outdoor hangers today. Ive put it off long enough and they are out growing their egg carton quickly.

I probably spend 10 minutes each day watering my mounted orchids and soaking my vandas, and then 1 or 2 hours on watering day soaking them all.
