Default My Bloom is Wilting

The bloom on my maudiae, 'napa valley' is wilting. I purchased it a couple of weeks ago, and the bloom was health and vibrant. I took it out of the 4" plastic pot it was in, and put it directly in the clay pot. I did not change the medium. It is not dry, but not wet. The top of the medium is covered with spangious moss, but it is not in the medium. Should I let the bloom die, then replace the medium? Should I use orchid bark, or should I use the finer orchid mix on this variety. It is in a location in my home where is gets alot of southern glare. It is about 5 feet from the window. It was closer to the window and under a light when I noticed the bloom was not doing well.

Hi ,
It is probably a natural thing, not knowing how long it was in bloom before you got it probably has reached the end of it's bloom time.
I would remove the layer of moss from the top .
I assume the humidity is high where you are .
I would use a mix of finer bark with sponge rock in it .
If the mix is not breaking down just leave it alone , but watch for drying in the clay pot .
Also move it back to more light . Hope this helps a little .. Gin

Thank you. I is sitting on the coffee table, and we really like it there. My TV is mounted above my fireplace, so we can have rather tall things on the coffee table, and it is not in the way. I really like this one, although it is rather plain as far as orchids go. Has sort of a "Lil Shop of Horrors" look to it. Also, I will look at the medium closely when I get home. I do not like the styrofoam and plastic that they put in there. Seems like they would be happier with a completely natural medium. May have to be changed a little more often, but the slow breaking down of the natural medium would be more nutritional for the plants.
