    Default The great divide

As you can see from the picture the baby is growing nicely but the last p-bulb before it doesn't have any roots yet. When do you decide to divide if there are no new roots and you got your baby growing? I assume that this is the normal way this catt growth but there will always be a baby and the previous p-bulb without roots; it seems there will never be a right time to divide it.

The other red circle looks like a foliar bud about to put on a show but ever since it has broken the 'shell' it hasn't done anything. Has the plant just taken priority to boost the growth of the baby instead of trying to grow two at once?

I wouldn't divide C. dowiana until early Spring when it starts growing well and the newest p-bulb is making roots and/or it outgrows the pot.

You'll know when! Dividing this plant with Winter fast approaching is sure to result in disappointment!

Wasn't planning on dividing was more worried about the fact that there's something growing all the time so there is never a right time to divide.

The general rule of thumb is only divide/repot when new roots are being produced from the lead p-bulb. I wouldn't worry about this until like next March and start watching for roots and then repot.
