    Default Dendrobium Mystery

I purchase a really nice Den yesterday. Here is the tag info. WU990 D. RIKY SIE-TOKIKO INABA X BURMESE RUBY I have found that the RIKY SIE-TOKIKO INABA is called Exotic Plum, but I cannot find the name of the Exotic Plum X Burmese Ruby cross. I checked ROC and did Google search, and came up with nothing. The RS-TI cross was registered in 2001, but that is all I found. It is huge, and I love it.

It's not registered with RHS, but I guess not all crosses are registered at all! If you want to you can contact the person who made the cross and try to get permission to name it - I believe Steven (IdahoOrchid) did that earlier this year, it costs a bit though..

I've noticed that very few hard cane dends coming out of Taiwan are registered or have labels that are even legible for that matter.

It is about 2 feet tall, and very thick. I purchased it for $8.00 at a box store. Looks like it is just beginning to bloom. That is a 6" pot, and there is only about 1/2" between the roots and the pot. I guess I will just call it 'exotic ruby'.

Well, I need to come up with something. Not going to register it, but it might get a complex if I just call it 'hey you'. Maybe I can call it 'ruby rod' like in The Fifth Element.

No kidding. I am guessing this is not a performance that Chris Tucker puts real high on his resume.
